Hands Across Chicago

Hands Across Chicago, a citywide community prayer outreach of Chicagoland United in Prayer, in cooperation with the 16th Chicago Police District Community Policing Offi ce, kicked off their Memorial Day weekend initiative Friday evening May 27th. Pastor Vic Melad of Edison Park United Methodist Church opened with prayer at Foreman High School 3235 N. Leclaire avenue which is on the boarder of Chicago’s 16th and 25th police districts. According to the event’s fl yer, the point of the Hands Across Chicago movement is to stand up against violence and pray for peace. Kimberly Harshman, area coordinator for Chicagoland United in Prayer, expressed how excited our team was by the turnout and that even the weather cooperated! Other churches and organizations off ering prayer, words of encouragement and song were, New Life Community Church, Faith Family Worship Center, Chaplain Fellowship Ministries and The American Legion 9th District. Refreshments of coff ee and donuts were served during a time of fellowship at the conclusion of Friday’s event.
